Q: How do you change Brake Pads on a 2002 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2002 Ford Ranger and I need to change the brake pads. Can someone direct me to a website or give me instructions on how to change the brake pads? Is it extremely difficult? Should I just take it in? How much does it cost to take the car in to change the brake pads?

A: Really quite simple 1. measure the rotor diameter the parts shop may need that. 2. Get pads and rotors don't worry about the super dooper pads that cost twice as much. get the cheaper ones with a life time warranty 3 YOU MUST replace the rotors I recommend that to all my customers. yes you can turn them but I find on trucks that they will warp easily and I only give an installation warranty I don't warrant against warped rotors on any truck/van There are two TORX head bolt I am told are 40mm get a set of torx sockets. 4..with a large screwdriver or the caliper retract tool, I usually use a screwdriver, go between the pad and rotor of the inboard pad and pry the pad apart to the full extent it will go this is required before pulling the 2 bolts that take off the caliper, replace the rotor it pops right off and the pads watch those keepers as they prevent squeaking, If you get a tube of blue anti-squeal put it on the back of the pad not the face. reassemble as you removed and do the other one. when you first start the truck press the brakes a couple of times to put pressure on the new pads and there you have it... We do this task in about an hour so plan on a first time 3 hours. It is quite simple..

Q: Where can I find a replacement steering wheel center emblem for a 2002 ford ranger edge? How do I replace it?
I bought a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge.On the Steering Wheel the Ford Emblem was dented in.I'm just trying to find one and replace it to make it look better.

A: Unfortunately the emblem may be part of the airbag assembly. Better check with Ford to find out if it is available seperately. If it is most likely it is held with double sided 3m mounting tape.

Q: 2002 Ford ranger makes squeaking sound?
Have a 2002 Ford Ranger v6, when I turn it on and push the gas it makes this squeaking sound coming from the engine area. any idea what it can be?

A: ok. could be belt or a tensioner/idler pulley too. also if it is a 3.0 or the 4.0 ohv the concern could be the "synchronizer". it looks like the bottom half of a distributor and has the cam position sensor located in the top of it. sounds like a belt squeal when it goes out....

Q: What kind of Keyless Entry Kit should I get for my 2002 Ford Ranger?
I'm looking for a cheap keyless entry kit that I can install on my car.

A: There isn't a lot of difference in them really, if you have an automatic transmission and are going through the trouble to wire it in you might as well opt for remote start also. It won't cost any more and installation is about the same.

Q: I have a 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0L, what would cause both banks of my engine to run lean?
I have had issues with different check engine codes. I have an OBD2 scanner and recently found that I have both a P0171 and P0174 code. These codes are telling me that I am running lean on both banks of the motor. Problem is I don't know what would be causing this problem. I have also noticed that when sitting at a stop light, my engine idles funny. It will drop down to about 400 rpm and then go back up to about 700 or 800 rpm and sometimes bounce back down and then up again. Would this be associated with running lean? If so, what would be causing it to run lean?

A: YES IT WOULD. The 4.0L SOHC engines are EXTREMELY sensitive to vacuum leaks. You probably need to replace your rubber intake gaskets. They are not expensive if you buy the entire kit (part # YL2Z-9E473-AA) from the Ford dealer. The kit comes with ALL the rubber gaskets needed plus the timing chain tensioner for bank #2 cassette, which you do not need. The intake manifold is made out of plastic. Check for any vacuum leaks with the engine running at idle. You should definitely hear a "hissing" sound from the somewhere. To isolate the leak, use a bit of propane, or "tune-up cleaner" administer the substance to various potential sources for vacuum leaks. When you hear a reaction from the engine, that is where the leak is located. Repair as necessary. Hope this helps.

Q: What is a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge?
I had a 2002 Ranger and I have never heard of an 2002 Ranger Edge. I have heard of the 2007 Edge, but never a 2002.

A: It's the "sporty" edition.

Q: 2002 ford ranger with air bag rediness light flashing what is the cause and will it deploy on its own?

A: By the light flashing, it is flashing a code for a repair that is needed. Without knowing how many times it is flashing, it is impossible to say what the cause is, and what repairs might be needed. No.....the air bag won't deploy by itself when this is happening, and the bad news is, it won't deploy in an accident either. The light will flash the first number then pause then the second number. it will do this 3 or 4 times, then probably stay on steady. I would recommend to get it repaired as it could be a HUGE liability if the truck is involved in an crash, whether you or driving or not... Hope it helps....
