Q: How much will it cost for parts and labor to replace a cat converter on a 99 chevy silverado?
Our 99 Chevy Silverado will not pass the emission test. The code that read out was obviously something to do with the catalytic converter. We replaced the o2 sensors thinking that would do it and it didn't. So now we have no choice but to replace the catalytic converter. Can someone please tell me how much this is probably going to cost us? Parts and Labor?

A: around 1000 at a dealer, you can get it cheaper after an aftermarket muffler place. probably around 500

Q: on average, do chevy silverado parts costs less the a ford f-150?

A: fords are and have always been more expensive to keep than a Chevy. You can almost build 2 chevy engines for the price of one ford, and the one chevy will outlast the ford engine by years~got a 350 4 bolt main with over 450k on it, with nothing more than a timing chain or 2 in its entire life. Aint had a Ford last 100 k yet...

Q: What other parts will I need to upgrade on my 2003 Chevy Silverado SS with AWD if I get a supercharger???
I already have a Diablosports programmer, dual exhaust, and CAI. But once I get a supercharger I know I'll have to upgrade my drivetrain to handle the extra power, but I'm still not sure what I will specifically need to buy or do to my engine and drivetrain after a supercharger. Also, what kind of price would I be looking at to get these upgrades done (not including the price of the supercharger)??? And I'll definitely take the Diablosport programmer out of my truck and get it custom tuned, hahaha.

A: Well most of the supercharger manufactures design their systems around stock applications. So usually the more stock the vehicle is the better it will adapt onto your application. When you start adding additional aftermarket parts along with the supercharger you have to make sure how well those parts will adapt to the supercharger. And a lot of times additional parts will throw off the tune that the supercharger comes with and from there you will have to get it custom tuned so that the air/fuel and timing ratio are correct. Bacially the DiabloSport will have to be eliminated since the supercharger has it's own tune. The only way you can use it is if you put it on a dyno and custom tune it for your application. Other than that you should just flash it back to stock and use the tune that comes with the supercharger. The CAI also gets replaced with the supercharger. It will basically have it's own intake and high flow air filter. The exhaust most likely will compliment the supercharger system where you might see a slight increase in HP and Torque so this should be fine. It also will not require any custom tune beyond the supercharger. However if you add headers it may lean the engine out and you might need to custom tune your application. Don't get underdrive pulleys for it will underdrive the supercharger causing you to lose boost. There is not much you need to do to your drivetrain since they do design the superchargers for stock applications. Usually it holds up pretty good. The only thing I might recommend with the supercharger is a set of colder spark plugs which will cost around $60-$120, and if you want to squeeze the most power out of it put it on a dyno and get it custom tuned which can cost around $500-$900 more. Other than that these supercharger systems are pretty complete.

Q: Where is the Throttle Position Sensor on a Chevy Silverado?
I have a 99 Chevy Silverado 1500 V8 5.3L 4x4. I took it to Schucks for the Check Engine Light today. It needs a Throttle Position Sensor. The part is $37. Do I need to take my truck to a mechanic, or is this something I can remove and replace myself? If it is something I can do myself, where exactly is it located, and how do I replace it? Thanks!

A: Its on the throttle body where the air comes into the front of the engine right on top. On top center of engine you should see a round tube that goes up to the front left or right side of the engine bay to your air filter. The sensor is located on metal parts that is attached to the engine. buy the sensor and you will know what you are looking for when you get it.

Q: Transfer case for my 2003 Chevy Silverado?
I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 4X4 diesel truck. My truck started making grinding noise's that sounded like a brake problem but after checking I found a small pin hole in the transfer case and you can see something moving (I would assume gears) inside. I drained the transfer case and it was way low and got some new "AutoTrac II" and put it in. Now the grinding noise has stopped but what do I do about the tiny hole in the casing that surrounds the gears (what is that part called?) and I would assume that there is something that is loose or broken inside there that would cause that small hole in the first place. Does anybody have any ideas on this?

A: Remember that transfer case has an outer case made of cast iron or aluminum. It's filled with lubricant that cuts friction on all moving parts, seals hold the lubricant in the case and prevent leakage around shaft and yokes.so that's what happened when you refilled it, you don't have anymore noise. I don't know the state of oil, but if it was dirty or contaminated with water it could be the cause.

Q: How do I stop a loud wind noise on the drivers side of a 2000 Chevy Silverado reg cab??
I got a good deal on the truck when I bought it. I asked the guy I bought it from if he ever figured out what the wind noise was. He said one of the hinge bushings fell off and that's when the noise started. I priced the part I need at a local chevy dealership at $139! I was wondering if anybody has had a similar problem?

A: Those hinges go bad all the time. When that happens the door no longer is aligned and the door weather seals cannot seal properly, thus the wind noise. Get the hinge repaired soon and remember to do the upper as well as the lower one.
