Q: What size speaker box do i need for my 2008 chevy silverado?
I just bought a 2008 Silverado Ext cab and wondered what size i would need to make a custom box to fit two 12" subs

A: Whatever fits under the back seat. 12" subs need about 1-1.25 cu ft of air space depending on if the box is going to be ported or not. The shape of the box is not important as long as it has the required air space so calculate the dimensions you have to work with under the seat and build the box to fit making sure the inside dimension will give you the required amount of air space for each sub.

Q: what are chevy dealers bottom dollar for a 2008 Chevy Silverado Z71?
I'm looking to buy a new 2008 Silverado Z71, I'm wondering how low dealers will really go on price. Anyone have an ideas? Cheapest price

A: Its really tought to say. Dealerships that sell more can sell for less. You could probably get $8,000 of MSRP but they won't give it up easily and many of them won't do it at all. This will really depend on where you live too. In large metro areas the dealers sell more cars and usually sell them cheaper. Outside of these areas you might not get more than 4000-5000 of MSRP or less.

Q: turbocharger or supercharger for a 2008 chevy silverado?
i know in racing games, you vehicles usally have one or the other, but not both, so i wasn't sure if you can only put one type on a vehicle and if so, which would (or if either, should) go on the 08' chevy silverado?

A: A supercharger will give you immediate horsepower and torque. You can get one that fits under the hood, McCulloch, etc. A Mc Culloch or one like that, will work with the compression ratio your engine has. A turbo has a lag when you first get in the throttle. You can install both but it would be a nightmare. What I like about the blower (supercharger) is if I have to let off the throttle on a hill, it picks up quick whe I get back inthe throttle (torque).

Q: How to play DVD in 2008 Chevy Silverado in dash player?
DVD stops playing when in drive/moving. I heard there is some kind of "cheat" process to override player default settings...Help?

A: Call the service department and ask them or look in your manual.

Q: Does GM offer a manual transmission with the 2008 Chevy Silverado?
When I go to GMs website and try to pick options it doesn't seem to be offered. But when I look at my local dealers inventory they list some as having manual trans. Any help please!

A: On the 2008 model silverados 1500,2500HD and the 3500HD the standard trans is a four speed hydra-matic with overdrive and tow-haul mode. The factory does not offer a manual trans as a option.Best of luck.

Q: i want to buy the new 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT any pros or cons?
i have done alot of resarch, but i would like more users opinions, so tell me what u think/ suggest oh and just on another note...i have to get a truck for band equpt. i have a lot of hauling to do. (i also have a car which will be used for normal driving)

A: When buying a full size PU, always buy American, prefer Chevrolet or GMC. Pay the extra for LS or LT package, you will get your money back in resale value alone. Nearly impossible to sell a used WT truck.

Q: What is the mileage that the first oil change is due on a 2008 Chevy Silverado?

A: Did you NOT get an owner's manual with your new truck? That is first place I'd check.

Q: i drive a 2008 chevy silverado. i want to upgrade my (4) door speakers?
its an extended cab and both my front and back speakers are 6 1/2. im not planning on changing my stereo so would it matter how many watts my aftermarket one will be. and would there be any ploblem with the way they fit all i want to do is change the speakers they are not bose i dont plan on doing a complete system change

A: My rec to you is to wait until you do a complete system before you choose to replace one part of your system, here is why, GM/Bose has spent millions in r and d of the speakers and placement, along with the sound system, you are talking about arbitrary replacement of speakers, without really planning the overall system-don't do it, wait until you can change the whole system-just my opinion, however,

Q: Why is the 2008 Chevy Silverado Z-71 package required to get the 18" wheel option?
If I have just a Silverado 4x4 (i.e. not Z-71) will the 18" wheels not work?

A: They will work there just tryin to rob u, my tahoe came with stock 16s and they told me if i wanted the stock 20s n i said no and now i got 27s on it and it works da same and looks bad as

Q: Will installing an amp in my 2008 Chevy Silverado void my warranty?

A: Most warranties are void when adding items which are not installed by the dealer. With todays electrical nightmares in new cars, I would strongly recommend that you have what ever you want installed placed there by the dealer so they are responsible. Ask lots of questions by the dealer too, They will be the first ones to void you and make money. Good luck.

Q: what are some cheap easy ways to give my 2008 chevy silverado more power and better fuel effiency?

A: I own a shop, and in order to answer this question one must first look at what causes a vehicle to get poor fuel economy. A truck is not very aerodynamic, so lowering the vehicle, adding an air dam to keep air from flowing under the vehicle, and adding a cover to the bed will all keep the air flowing around the vehicle, and not holding it back. Tire pressure; Any tire that is low will take more resistance to roll, but the patch that touches the road is what counts. Running more air pressure will put less patch to the road, thus rolling more easily, but at the risk of slipping if its too much pressure. Lighten the load; by removing everything from the vehicle that doesn't have to be in it, will make a difference. Tuning the engine; This will keep it running its best, and get the best mpg. Air filter; A larger air filter will allow the air to flow better, and keeping it changed is very important. A cold air induction system will help due to an engine makes more power from a cold charge of air rather than the heated air from under the hood. Keeping the injectors clean helps by not allowing them to leak. They will stick when they get dirty, and this means they don't close off good, thus allowing some fuel to keep entering the engine even when the engine is not running. Keep the vehicle greased, and the alignment in good shape & set properly. Running the correct size wheels & tires will make a huge difference in the mpg. Finally; a good flowing exhaust system will make a big difference in power as well as mpg. How one drives can help too, so lower the speed, take off gradually, and stay out of the gas pedal. Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

Q: How much does my 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT V8 weigh?

A: look on your resteration it will tell you the gross weight of your vehicle

Q: 2008 Toyota Tundra vs 2008 Chevy Silverado?
whats your opinion on the better truck?Im looking at the 4.7L tundra and the 4.8L chevy both extended cab 4wd.Base model of both.which one and why?

A: Since you want the 4.7 in a Tundra, I can recommend it without second thought. MY Tundra has 97,000 trouble-free miles on it, and I replaced the brakes for the FIRST time at 80,000. At trade in time, the Tundra will get ya more money, and if you sell it yourself, it will sell quickly. I just recently sold (for my daughter) a Silverado in like new cond for WAY less than what it SHOULD have sold for. This truck didn't even have a door ding on it. Seriously. I owned a GMC 1500 5.7 and put 200,000 miles on it, and it was still running like new when I got rid of it, but I was lucky. Most people have SOME kind of problems with them.
