Q: 1991 Chevy S10 blazer on the exhaust pipe near the transmission is a hollow tube with a foot long wire?
where does the wire go?

A: If it is attached to exhaust, it's the oxygen sensor and should connect to main harness above transmission behind engine. Hard to reach for one thing..

Q: Engine Studdering while stopped 1991 Chevy S10 v4 pickup?
My engine studders everytime i stop at a light or wait while stopped for a while, rpms get really low and engine studders. What could this be?

A: First review your tune-up items to eliminate them as a cause. The most important is the ignition tuneup, so if you've never replaced your spark plug wires (distributor cap and rotor if equipped), then that's the first thing to do. Next is your air and fuel filters if never replaced, your PCV valve and your EGR valve operation (carbon cleaning of the passageways and valve itself). Also clean the throttle plate and bore as well as the MAF sensor. http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Car_Care/DIY/Cleaning_Engine_Throttle_Bodies.aspx?pg=1 http://www.crcindustries.com/auto/content/prod_detail.aspx?PN=05110&S=N http://www.aa1car.com/library/bad_gas2.htm

A: Buy a Chilton's or Haynes Repair Manual for that specific car. Or go to the library and check one out for free. Or maybe try autozone.com, and type in the make, model and year, they might have directions (and even pictures!).

Q: What is the correct starter wire orientation for a 1991 chevy s10?
1991 4.3 auto 4x4

A: i think you mean what order to put the wires on? first the largest wire (from battery) then the other one (or two) from the alternator, depending on vehicle options. the last and smallest wire goes to the solenoid.

Q: 1987 and 1991 chevy s10 Service Engine Soon Light wont go off why?
i cant get it off why what causes this and ho do i fix it

A: because you have a problem, take a paper clip and touch the a and b terminals together, should be top and bottom on the plug under your steering column. now count the flashes and the pause inbetween means a new number i.e. flash flash flash pause flash flash would be a code 32. then figure out the code definition and fix it, then the light should go off. On a GM you will see a 12 first and last if I remember, these codes means starting codes and then done with codes

Q: Engine swap for a 1991 Chevy S10?
I have a 1991 Chevy S10 with a very dirty engine. I'm wanting to eventually swap it for a high performance engine that would run better. What exactly would be the best and most compatible? I currently have a 2.8L V6. I have a 1991 Chevy S10 with a very dirty engine. I'm wanting to eventually swap it for a high performance engine that would run better. What exactly would be the best and most compatible? I currently have a 2.8L V6. As well as keeping good MPG.

A: It all depends on how much work you want to do? You could put a V8 in it if you want! The easiest and quickest replacement would be same block. The sky is the limit! I removed a 2.5L and installed a 5.7L in a S-10. Had to change transmission and alter engine mounts, trans mount, drive shaft, radiator, used electric fan and so on. I spent a lot of time and money on my project, but i thought it was worth it. (Minimum 1 set of tires in the summer, its hard not to burn them off)

Q: Engine swap for a 1991 Chevy S10 (Repost)?
I'm making a new topic due to not wanting to have so many additions I have a 1991 Chevy S10 with a very dirty engine. I'm wanting to eventually swap it for a high performance engine that would run better. What exactly would be the best and most compatible? I currently have a 2.8L V6. As well as keeping good MPG. Or if I was to keep the 2.8L, would there be some good performance parts without blowing the engine?

A: you start adding performance parts, no matter what it is, you might as well forget about the good gas mileage. I had a 2001 s10 and it just barely got got 20 mpg and it was a 4 cyl.

Q: 1991 Chevy S10?
I have a 1991 Chevy S10 and want to start working on vehicles myself to get knowledge of their ins and out. Is there an easy thing I can do to increase horsepower for a guy just starting out? And how do I do it? What are some basic repairs and modifications I can do to get started with doing my own work?

A: theres not alot of things you can really changeon it withouthaving to modify the PROM in the computer, having the PROM burned for performance is a cheaper way of getting some more performance out of a stock or relatively stock engine, better intake system and better exhaust system are good starters, including but not limited to catback exhaust system and the K&N filter and so on power costs $$$ and can get really expensive really quick and if you dont do it right you can have some real problems with it, with the computers ability to run the engine correctly that is more power = more fuel usage also, be prepared to lose some fuel mileage, in most all cases, better injectors, a higher pressure/volume pump, and other parts help increase power good luck

Q: how hard is it to put a roll pan bumper on a 1991 chevy s10 blazer?

A: depends if your talking about a fiberglass roll pan or a steel pan. steel is easiest if you have a welder, grinder etc etc fiberglass requires less tools but alot more patience to mold and sand

Q: how do you replace a heater core in a 1991 S10 chevy pickup?

A: I would double-check the previous answer. I checked my service manuals online but can only go back to 1998, which is pretty much the same as a 1991. The dashboard HAS to be removed in order to access the heater core. I've seen my mechanics with the dashboard loosened and tilted forward in order to access the heater case. Big job.

Q: where is the started located on a 1991 chevy s10 truck?

A: Look underneath the passenger side well to the rear of the front wheel well but not directly underneath the passenger's position. It might have a cowling but it will be a cylindrical object about a foot long. There should be 4 bolts that hold it in place.

Q: Where is the fuel filter on a 1991 Chevy S10 2.8L pickup?

A: drivers side frame rail.....under neath just behind cab

Q: 1991 chevy s10 motor mount kit?
i need a motor mount kit for a 1991 chevy s-10 2.8L v6 so i can be able to put a 1977 chevy 350 engine in and if i put this 350 in what kind of tranny should i use it has a 350 but i hear i can still use me manual v6 tranny but i dont see how that is possible and i dont belive it will really work would i have to weld new brakets for the transmission or what thanks

A: Go to www.summitracing.com and search for "s10 motor mounts swap" and you see the different brands of mounts they have for that swap. I have a set of the Trans Dapt 2.8-to-smallblock mounts and they look pretty nice. I'm not sure about the transmission, but I can tell you where to find the definate answer. www.s10forum.com is full of good info on s10's. They have a section dedicated to motor swaps just like what you're doing. Good luck.

Q: 1991 Chevy s10 Blazer wont start on its own..?
this just happened about 3 weeks ago, it is TBI and it will not start unless i put some gas into the carb, after that it starts fine and runs forever until i shut it off, what could cause it not to start on its own but when i put gas into the carb? any and all help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance! ok, how many fuel pumps does this thing have, how do i tell if the injector is leaky, and how would i get water out of the tank, thanks for the great answer! ok how do i go about checking the injectors?

A: A. Your car does not have a carberater, TBI stands for Throttle Body Injection, although this looks extremely similar to a carb. it isn't a carb. chances are your fuel pump is located in tank since external pumps are very rare for any care that new and unless you have an aftermarket secondary tank which I sincerely doubt you do you only have one fuel pump. First I would be checking the fuel filter abd fuel injectors (because it is TBI you should usually only have 2 as opposed to port injection where there would be an injector for each cylinder. If both of these aren't the problem its about time to check for OBD1 trouble codes.

Q: 1991 chevy s10 pops out of first gear?
only first gear though. not first and third.

A: Check the throwout bearing and the tune fork. If it's not that, your transmission is going out.
